  1. @Andy Somerfield are linked layers deprecated for V1.x? https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/45521-v1xyz-no-linked-layers/ They are no longer on the roadmap but were said to appear in 1.5 "Layer linking will happen in 1.5 - at the moment it is currently not exposed in this beta. Look out for it soon though" thanks
  2. inpainting from current layer and below is broken in 1.6.5 AP and while you are at it could you please non destructive smudge which is just smudge tool with an option to sample from below??!
  3. did not crash as it used to but has some new visual fx and still some inconsistency cheers
  4. why you not just draw a rectangle that covers the whole canvas and then place a gradient with transparent end point in it? no fuss
  5. appreciate that another frustration is that the preview trick of PS in the unsharp mask filter is not available in Affinity Photo (no, difference blend mode does not cut it)
  6. when you use the levels adjustment you press the alt key and get clipping warnings for shadows and highlights (and you can record levels adjustment as a macro) here is the corresponding official help file https://affinity.help/photo/English.lproj/pages/Adjustments/adjustment_levels.html not available in curves though sadly https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/22624-curves-and-blend-if-picker-size-visibility/#comment-106288 cheers
  7. I think you forgot to post the finished artwork? i can only see the vector outline view and the reference image ?! just kidding great work cheers
  8. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/45618-the-selection-process-mystifies-me/&do=findComment&comment=229389
  9. If you use a rectangle and fill it with a gradient you can edit it afterwards which is not possible using a pixel layer as you said cheers
  10. ~/Library/Containers/com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner.beta/Data/Library/Application Support/user ~/Library/Containers/com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner.beta/Data/Library/Application Support in finder hit cmd shift g (Go to Folder) and paste just delete .beta or rename designer to photo to get the folders for the respective
  11. batch jobs can only save afphoto, jpg, png, tiff, exr normal File>export allows more options though e.g. pdf it just happened that I had to batch convert a bunch of svg which AP opened well but without a batch option it was not practical please make batch jobs more full featured cheers (and enable parallel export)
  12. since I now have some more upload volume I'll use that move.mov cheers
  13. Added ability to rotate the selected nodes in the Node Tool - via the Transform panel If you select some nodes and rotate them around a corner/ side (just not around the middle) they "move" outwards somehow like the rotation center is recalculated all the time? I'm not sure how this feature is expected to work but at least I did not expect it to work this way, just saying
  14. quite some truth I'd like to add that this discussion is not only about Affinity Apps being professional or not - but claiming features which are not yet there (marketing) and announcing features ("soon") which do not appear which now leads to the fact that you "only see the news when they are presented on apple WWDC" and lets not forget that Affinity gets quite a bit out of these forums as well, it is not like the users are not reporting bugs/& enhancing features/ ideas / give free support forums are a give and take and I do not think one side greatly exceeds the other here
  15. are you sure no one else is using fractions instead of doubles? (how precise are your snapping guides placed at 1/3 of the page?) (no, I'm not 100% serious )
  16. are linked layers deprecated? (they are apparently not on the roadmap anymore) https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/45227-promised-and-forgotten/#comment-227449 hope I'm missing something... ?!
  17. yeah I'll adjust accordingly once scripting is available and make the tests cover much more Hopefully they will add scripting in Haskell, otherwise you just can not make sure there are no side effects harming your measurement it is not on the 1.x roadmap though afaik where is linked layer btw? disappeared from the roadmap like magic... @MattP "Surprisingly, the macro took much longer to run on the beta than it did on whichever retail version I was using back in January when I reported my results in that topic (well over 16 minutes vs. around 9.5 minutes)."
  18. I do not think this statement is worth the rant after that and does not do the windows team justice at the moment their beta may face some stability issues and windows has a much broader set of configurations which leads to more possible errors but I've had Affinity Photo Trial running on a CoreQuad and had about the same speed as a DualCore 2017 MacBook, also a Ryzen Octacore is at the moment probably the fastest configuration which also comes with a very reasonable price tag and trumps every more expensive Mac https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/32907-affinity-photo-performance-comparison-data-sheet/?p=159980 here is some data to put performance into perspective I do not personally use windows either but this is not because of performance Affinity will be faster on a equally expensive windows config the lack of optimization is more than rectified by other parts available on the market (I would not even say that the optimization is worse, it has just a much more wide spread than on mac) the iPad version has the best performance by a huge margin (compared to processing power/ GHz/ Cores) which is actually faster than an 4GHz i7 Quadcore iMac)
