On the double tap options of the Apple Pencil, can you add an option to switch between the two selected colors? It’d be really useful to be able to switch between my two saved colors just by double tapping on the Apple Pencil instead of having to open the menu every time.

A spacing function that allows us to create a seamless repeating tile would made surface pattern designers dreams come true. Our whole job is to create layered repeating art. These repeats need to look seamless so spacing elements that transfer from one side of the tile/canvas to the other side is key. We then export as PSD or un-compressed TIFF files so our buyers can update the layers later. We usually transfer them with Drop Box. So far Affinity does 90% of what we need.
This new function would do the following: when a layer is pushed off one side of the canvas/art board, it appears on the opposite side. This will enable to the user to create a seamless repeating design.
I will certainly be blogging about this app and sharing it on social media. If this tile function happens I will be doing 100% of my work on it.

Hi all, I just had a quick look at photo beta and it looks great!

There are two features supported in Krita which I think would make fantastic additions to both photo and designer:

1: Tile mode (or "wrapping" mode). In this mode you can see the image/canvas repeated at least once beyond each edge and corner, and you can just draw off the edge and the drawing automatically wraps around to the other side. Ideally most of the built in effects and filters would also work properly with tiled mode, such as blurs, bevels, shadows, etc. This would be superb for making or working with seamlessly tiled backgrounds and game textures.

2: Infinite canvas. When you find yourself running out of space at one edge of the canvas, this feature would make it very easy to extend the canvas just in that direction.

    Cheers,
    Jules

    Hi,

AP already has some great tools for making seamless textures (Affine Destort, Frequency Separation, Inpainting, etc..)
There's a great official tutorial video on it.
The end result is something like this:

Although this is a properly seamless texture, it has some low frequency features that means the tiling/repeating will show up.

One thing that would really help would be to having a tiling display mode so that we could preview the tiling effect, like this:

(note: I boosted the contrast here so its easier too see)

As an added bonus, it would be super cool if we could paint in this mode and have the painting automatically tile/repeat.

On a related note, being able to rotate the canvas view would also be very handy, but I think this has already been requested.

    Thanks,
    Passive

    Hello VertigoBirdie,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums.
To make the background transparent go to File -> Document Setup (or with the Move Tool selected click anywhere outside the document to deselect everything and then click the Document Setup button in the context toolbar) and in the color section check Transparent background checkbox.
