Thanks guys got it sorted thank you. Was stumped on the jpg things as well. I now have rounded the corner lol appreciated guys.

Another option here is to clip the image into a rectangle, then use the Corner Tool to adjust the rectangle, as shown in the below recording! (This can be done in Photo or Designer )

You can't directly round the corners of an image/pixel layer, however you could use an artboard to do so.
As for 'background is visible" ... Do you mean opaque white corners instead of transparent?
If yes, this is due to jpg format which doesn't save opacity/transparency values, png for example would keep the corners transparent.
