Thank you all. I tried the master page parent/child and had the same result earlier - applying the numbers deleted the guides there too. This is why I tried adding two master layers to the main document pages. But will try again. I am not seeing where the page sizes are different or how you got the info but have set the whole document all spreads to a4 preset as suggested so hopefully that will sort it out.

Ok - two more pictures. I think they are guides but happy to be corrected. have expanded the layer as well - the text box is one I put on and shows on the left hand side as I couldn't get guides to show.

Hi I have attached a picture of the master with guides and then a picture of the target page with both the guides master and page numbering master applied and only page numbers show up.

Which brings me back to my first query as the guides placed on the master page are not appearing on the page to which it was applied. That was what I was hoping to do but despite a master for page numbering and another with the guides showing as two separate layers on the target page the guides did not appear. I had the same problem with applying the guides master to a combined master page (i.e one with the numbering and guides as one master). I have just bought a new laptop and downloaded latest version of affinity to windows 11 if that makes any difference). Thanks again for your patience.

Not the attributes of the text. I want a guide for the text boxes to appear in the same place on every page, hence the use of a master to show me where to place the text box. I don't want to have to set up a guide for every page unless that would be a more efficient way of doing it. Thanks

Thank you both. I think I may have sorted it - I was using guides in the master pages for my template rather than using a shape so they weren't showing. Is there a better way of setting up a template so that the text boxes applied in the main pages are all identical? there are a few of us who put a magazine together in turns so trying to make it as simple as possible for everyone to pick up each month and try and get some uniformity. Hi - I have a simple document where I want page numbers on all but the front and back page, a master template for the main page and an adverts template for the classifieds in my magazine. It used to work fine but I am finding that only one of the masters will actually display if I try and have both page numbering and either the main template or ads template. They show up as being there in the layers but are not displaying. Am I doing something wrong or is there a fix? I have also tried add masters to each other but only one displaying. Thanks

Hi We publish a monthly magazine using Affinity and it is produced by different compilers each month. I receive this to put it online but when I download all the titles are showing with a different one specified by the style that has been applied. (See attachments) I need to go into each text block and apply the style again. My question is there anyway to get the document to autoupdate itself so that it applies the styles properly rather than going into each box an reapplying what it should be showing? Thanks. (I did loook to see if this problem had come up before but couldn't find anything)

Not set up to force characters on to a new line - but I tried applying a different style and all back to normal - so will delete the style and start again on that. Thanks for the help.

Not sure what is going on. I put in a text frame and started typing but the type is all outside the box in column that appears to be one character wide. Deleted and tried again and seems I am stuck with the problem - can't see anything on settings but hoping someone can help. I have expanded box and type in attached pic so that you can see what is happening. Thanks

I have a master page set up with guides as outline in red. Having saved and closed the document the guides appear as filled in blue when I reopen the document. Simple to change it back but would be good if they kept my setup. Am I doing something wrong?

HI - Am trying publisher for our village magazine. Is there any way of getting the pointer to revert back to the move/select tool after creating or editing a text box? At the moment it leaves it in text box mode so I try to select something else and it creates a box. It's annoying that I have to remember to select the move tool everytime. IN pageplus this wasn't an issue. Any help appreciated. Thanks
