It seems that Canva has cash. As long as the Affinity Suite survives using the current pricing model, this could be a win-win. Canva gets access to loads of sorely-needed features and Affinity has more resources to evolve our favorite products.

When I'm retouching a photo I tend to swap brushes to get various textures. When I do this brush parameters change and I have to readjust size, hardness and so on when all I really want is a different brush texture.
Please give me a way to change retain brush parameters when changing brushes.

    Actually, it is possible.
Select your item(s) and click on the "artboard" tool.
Above the canvas area in the "size" drop-down, change that to selection and then click the "insert artboard" button. This compresses the artboard around your selection.

casterle reacted to Lem3 in Windows: Listing all shortcuts?
    For Windows, there is Users > username > AppData > Roaming > Affinity > Photo > 1.0 > Workspaces > Photo > Shortcuts.xml
I created a new shortcut for Open Folder in Explorer (Ctrl-Shift-Alt-X) and found this stanza was added to that file:
    <Item type="Command" command="Serif.Affinity.Commands.OpenFolderInExplorerCommand, Serif.Affinity, Version=1.10.5.1342, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null" key="X" modifierKeys="Alt, Control, Shift" />
It's left as an exercise for the user to extract that into a more user friendly format.

I agree: if the nodes are at 9 points of bounding boxes (which are at square angles), just using the Move tool should be enough. If they are not, nodes need to be revealed somehow to make snapping easier (even if it did work without showing the nodes), so in that scenario changing to another tool is often needed. In Affinity Designer, you can use the Transform Point Tool with the appropriate snapping option turned on to snap to any of the exposed points whether rotated or not, also when they are buried within groups -- but you cannot snap then to the middle point of the circle!

snappingtorotatednodes.mp4 It could ideally be as simple as it is in CorelDRAW, where you can snap to any point while having nodes exposed, even if snapping to objects is not turned on (why else would you even want to have all nodes exposed, if not for something like this). You can use the Move tool (Pick tool in Corel) to do that, as well, but then the nodes are not exposed.

In this case part of the problem is that the circles are grouped. Most of the problem is that some of them are not currently snapping candidates.
Turn on Show Snapping candidates, you will see that some of the circles are snapping candidates and others are not. This is because those that are candidates have been selected more recently than those that are not candidates.
Set snapping candidates to 4 make five objects note how the last 4 are outlined in purple. select the one not outlined in purple, It should now be outlined and number two is not outlined.

It certainly appears that way to me, but I'm hesitant to confirm this exactly before our developers have commented on the internal report - in either case it's logged to be investigated as I would expect any of these objects to work with the snapping settings shown

I can snap horizontal guides to grouped circles works fine. Snapping vertical guides, not so much.
    Here's my snapping settings:

And here's the video. Note that after I move the circles out of the group to the artboard I can snap vertical guides to the circles:

I've attached the AD file so you can give it a try. Thanks for your help once again!

What makes you think so? To me the first screenshot shows just different artboards of various copies of 1 linked .afdesign. The six artboards are shown in the 3rd screenshot. Thus I do not see reason or need to "move" anything after having an artboard selected from the Context Toolbar.
And thus, just placing artboards (or pages) is not a complex thing to do but rather a way which the UI was made for by its option to choose a certain artboard/page of a linked document.

Thank you to clarify that an Affinity document inside another Affinity document (either embedded or linked) isn't "the best approach", I understand this as a confirmation of known, possible issues with such kind of nesting Affinity documents in each other. (as happened in this case, too).
But I don't understand Asset as an alternative in case of this business card topic. I looks to be still in a process of design development, e.g. a client hasn't done a decision and thus there might modifications required in the next steps. Therefore it is more helpful to have a link between logo & business card, to get changes done to the original logo layout automatically appear on an instance in the business card layout. Thus Assets may not be "best approach" either, since they are "absolute", not linked with any original. So, I can't update, replace or relink and Asset but rather need to delete a placed asset and place a new one to get changes transferred.
From that perspective it appears more flexible to export the logo layouts as PDF and place this in the business card document (instead of placing their .afdesign). This workflow requires an additional export action but maintains the linked property and may be a helpful way to get changes done to the logo layouts transferred to the business cards.

It might be worth creating custom Assets from your logo versions to avoid the issues you are having.  As Walt suggests, linking the original document isn't the best approach.
This quick video below shows the workflow for creating your own custom assets.

    This might help:
    https://affinityspotlight.com/article/display-colour-management-in-the-affinity-apps/
Advise for beginners (experts may use whatever works for them)
Display profile must be assigned in OS for display. Nowhere else. Display settings must match profile in OS. If in doubt use sRGB on both.  Use RGB/16 or RGB/8 for documents. May use AdobeRGB or CMYK if you know to handle the process. never use RGB/32 except you really know what you are doing. Let the print drive do the profile conversion for the print process (often CMYK, matching the paper type you are using) Avoid printing directly from Affinity. MacOS has some driver quirks.

    Hi,
if you want to create a photo collage of images, arranged along a circular shape, you may download my assets file.
    Usage:
Download asset file Import Assets into Designer or Photo Drag one of the example assets (3, 4, 5, 12 picture frames around a circle) to you file Place images directly into the picture frames by drag and drop, from Stock Panel, or from file system There are 2 variants:
rot: Pictures will be rotated when placed hor: Pictures stay horizontally when placed I added color tags to the layers (blue: picture frames, red: curves used for masking crescent shape)
You can use "Select Same Color Tag" to adjust multiple layers, e.g. removing or changing the stroke to the crescent If you need different  count of images, or different shapes, or sizes, all can be created in about 3-5 minutes.
The asset contains a helper shape. Drag it on your canvas Select shape tool, adjust the number of points for star. Adjust star size and/or circle size Activate snapping for objects (deactivate snapping for grid / pixel) Add the shape you want (e.g. circle) Add a layer color tag to shape Select move tool Activate center anchor point activate "Enable Transform Origin", move origin to star center (this gives rotated images. Use lower center anchor point if you need placed images unrotated) duplicate rotate by 360/number of star points select both shapes geometry>subtract add picture Fram from asset library set other layer color tag to picture frame nest picture frame to shape use power-duplicate to create required number of copies, and rotate them group or nest to a "vector layer" / layer layer, rename to taste add to assets have fun

The selection box method is fine.... if you just want to move nodes, but what if you want to change the curve itself?? We can't move the handles of two selected nodes.
    Another "solution":
Use a symbol. Un-sync and give one just the gradient fill. Re-sync.
Now you just have to select a single node and can change whatever you want.
