  1. Thank you! I'm glad you listed your driver version. Mine was a bit older and updating seems to have solved my problem.
  2. AD 1.10.5.1342, Win11 Pro, XP-Pen Deco 03 tablet (via USB cable) with latest drivers. Everything seems to work fine, except dragging nodes via the node tool. Using the mouse (Mouse.mp4) motion is smooth; using the pen (Pen.mp4) things are horrid as illustrated in the attached video. The line was drawn with the Pen tool, and I'm editing using the Node tool if that makes a difference (I don't think it should?). EDIT: The Pen tool does not show this behavior while I'm drawing - I only see this with the Node tool. I've got the tablet configured for Windows Ink, and have it enabled in Windows. Pressure sensitive brushes work as expected, as does the pen in every other respect. Can someone suggest what might be happening here? Could the pressure data from the pen be causing this weirdness? Mouse.mp4 Pen.mp4
  3. Windows 11 Pro x64 21H2 (build 22000.556), Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti Designer 1.10.5.1342 In 'Dark UI' mode, assets are not very visible in the Assets Panel. They're there, and their labels pop up as you hover over them, they're just not at all easy to see (with UI Gamma at min, my preference): If I turn UI Gamma to max, things are only a bit better: I'm not sure if this is a bug or configuration issue. Comments?
  4. I've finally reached the end of my rope with MS arrogance and am seriously looking at Linux. I'm a retired dev and have been using Windows since 3.1.something-or-other, and writing code for it since Win95; this isn't a decision I will make lightly. The only thing that might stop me in my tracks is the Affinity trio - it doesn't matter if there are alternatives, I must be able to run Affinity Photo (etc.) close to as well as they do natively on Windows (which I considered very good way back in 1.5). My hardware: ASUS Crosshair VIII Formula Ryzen 9 3950X 64GB RAM (I can double that if needed) M.2/pcie4 NVME SSD, 2080Ti w/11GB ASUS RTX-2080 Ti (11 GB) I haven't installed a distro yet, but I understand I can install my licensed copy of Windows in VM's on Ubuntu and install/run Windows programs well. I've seen many comments about running the Affinity software under Wine, but no discussions about running in licensed VM's. Given my hardware, can I do what I want? TIA!
  5. For the last year I've been working on my maker/electronics lab (much more to do!) and haven't had time to play with your fine trio of products for far too long. Today I launched Designer to make a simple diagram and found the 1.9 update waiting. WOW, have you been busy! I wish I had time now to dive into everything you've added, but I look forward to diving back in ASAP. Impressive work indeed.
  6. Good question and good comment. I landed here in search of the same answer. For many things the docs are useless. No cross references or cross-refs that point to nothing useful such as explanations that consist of parroting the name of the option in question. Some features are very good, like the 'interactive' graphics that demonstrate effects, but much of it serves only to fan frustration. This needs to be addressed at some point, and I hope that point is version 2.0. Given what Serif gives us for a very small price (which of course limits resources that can be devoted to docs) I find their products a bargain and recommend them to anyone who asks.
  7. The Stock Panel is way useful as it is, but I want more 😊. I'm spending time watching AP videos, and when I see something I'd like to try, I like to use a similar image. They're easy to find on the Stock Panel, but once I find one, how do I open it in AP? I don't know its size so I can't create a new project of the right size. I can't copy it into the clipboard and "New From Clipboard". I can't drag it into AP with nothing open. I can't drag it onto the desktop. All I can do I double-click to open the image on the website and download it. So, how about a context menu for the images in Stock Panel that would allow me to "New From Image"? Or allow me to drag the image into AP with nothing open? Or both? 😊
  8. The OCD in me is triggered by the behavior of the various Studio Panels. Specifically, I'm frustrated with the behavior of the panels which insist on changing their height for no good reason. It drives me nuts when I click between panels in a group and the height of that group changes, changing the height of everything else in the stack. For this reason I have to find panels that don't behave this way and group them together, whether it makes sense or not. But wait, it gets worse. Since the fixed-height panels are of different sizes, you can't dock them in the same group without the group resizing as you switch between them. Thus, you need one group for each panel, and you have to find other (resizable) panels that are useful at that size. What shall I dock with the Transform Panel? Worse, at least one panel allows resizing when floating, but when switching to their tab in the group resizes the group anyway - I'm looking at you, Sources Panel. Panels have acted this way since I started with AP (1.5.x); I'm now using 1.8.3. I hope you'll find time to remove the max-height limitations. Thanks for listening. 😊
  9. I'm not a photographer so I'm not sure how well this solution will work, but apparently Adobe Bridge is (and always has been) free. Here's a YouTube video about using it with AP:
  10. I was just perusing YouTube in search of new Affinity-related videos when I ran into one entitled "Digital Sketching with Affinity Designer for 100 Commissions". Puzzled by the title, I investigated. I'd been impressed with Serif's response to the pandemic in reducing prices by a whopping 50% and extending the trial period to 90 days (I picked up a license for Publisher to round out my own collection 😍). But the 100 Commissions program is something else - a generous fiscal contribution to your customers when it is most needed. Thanks for the warm, fuzzy feeling!
  11. I stopped using WinZip years ago when I discovered 7-Zip, which is free: https://www.7-zip.org/
  12. Dave has given us some splendid macros (and videos). I've been playing with his "Histogram Squeeze 'n Shift" and find it useful and educational.
  13. You can drag macros into the category, and you can save macros you record to the category. Being able to *nest* one category within another so we could arrange them hierarchically would make macros much more convenient to use.
  14. Thank you. I hadn't seen that. I'd noticed the limited editing. There's much power locked in the various functions and such we can access only through a peephole; a scripting language combined with a macro management system would really open that up.
  15. Thank you for the many macros you've shared. Do you just load the macros you're using for a specific project then? Your suggestion regarding notes is excellent, btw. I've been saving links to associated videos. I'm just starting to play with macros and haven't figured out how to edit them. For example, I downloaded "Dave's Shifters" after watching one of his excellent videos on YouTube (https://tinyurl.com/wfhonsj). I wanted to add a 'fine' slider to his controls, which I was able to do easily as I was running the macro. But of course that only added the sliders to that instance of the macro, not to the source. I was able to open his macro in the editor, but was unable to find a way to edit the procedural text filter which contains the controls. Is there no way to edit these?
  16. I wish it was 😊. How do you organize your macros (assuming you have more than a few)?
  17. Thanks, Walt. I knew I could drag a macro from one category to another. What I'd like to do is arrange them hierarchically, with several categories grouped together.
  18. This seems so simple, but I can't quite figure out how to organize my macros within the library. I'd like to create a category to house several sets of macros I've downloaded. After I create the new category, how do I move the macro sets into the new category?
  19. Thanks for the insight. That explains how the devs got AP/AD to come up so fast. So I guess the answer is no, Publisher can't be used as a 'studio' for all the apps. Oh well, I'm still excited to play around with Publisher, although I have no real use for it.
  20. Now that I have Publisher, and can launch AP and AD from within it nearly instantly, Publisher could act like a 'Studio' version of the Affinity products. I could configure my system to launch Publisher for AP and AD files. It appears that when I switch to AP from within APub, I am in the full AP program with all AP features available. Is this the case? Assuming memory isn't an issue, is there any reason not to do this? It would be even better if APub opened in the app associated with the file type I opened. For example, if I open an .afphoto file in APub, it opens in the APub UI rather than the AP UI. No biggie, but this would be a nice touch.
  21. I don't see where I can select a category. I'm on Windows; is this a Mac-only feature?
  22. I've been using AP for some time, and picked up AD to play with. I just noticed the incredible sale on Publisher (thank you, Affinity!) and grabbed that as well to complete the set. I'm amazed at how well AP and AD are integrated into APub. Switching between the 3 is faster than I could have imagined, especially on a 6-year-old system with SATA storage. You guys are awesome!
