Exactly - it is a crying shame that this fundamental capability is missing from this otherwise excellent product.

Hard to understand why DWG/DXF import is not already present in Designer. It is a crucial interchange format.

In an ideal world there would be symbol swatches included for things like hatching of various types (lines, wavy lines etc), dots of various densities, soil-type symbols, and so on.
Basically all the things that you would normally fill areas with for plans and drawings of various types. You shouldn't need to create these from scratch in any illustration-type application.
This is basic functionality in my view and it is tragic that it is missing.

    Quite agree.
Why isn't this frankly essential function already implemented in the product in a simple and straightforward form?
There are just so many uses of vector pattern fills that cannot be substituted by any other function. It is an absolutely essential feature for me to even think of using this otherwise excellent product, and I'm sure others will be in the same position. Without it all of the other excellent functionality is just wasted.

Pixel patterns much easier to do than vector patterns, unfortunately. I was very very disappointed as well

+1 for this - its absence is why I cannot move from Illustrator to Affinity Designer. I use this all the time for architectural drawings, and maps & plans. Without it I just cannot do this type of work. It seems like a very big omission to me and relegates Affinity Designer, for all its strengths, to an amateur tool in comparison to Illustrator, and it pains me to say that!

Yeah, the iPad AI seems to have better pattern functions than even desktop AI. The main problem with these Adobe iPad apps is that none of them, neither the legacy or the new ones, support CMYK. So... we're kind of stuck when it comes to print patterns on the iPad. This is an area where Affinity could do a quick 'land grab'.
Getting a proper vector pattern editor, both in Desktop and iPad, would help Designer's adoption a lot, I mean a lot, a lot. For example, I have a client that I could fully migrate to Designer if it had vector patterns editor. But without it, there's no way out of Illustrator for him, it's as simple as that.

    Sorry if it's duplicate post.
It would be nice to have a pattern fill feature with a few patterns to start with instead of gradient tool and bitmap fill.
Also quickly create patterns by drawing a square on your shapes and save them to swatch library.

Or..at least if you save gradient fill with a bitmap image, and reapply that fill on another shape to get the same size of the pattern. See the image, they all get a different size.
