  1. When is the next update to AP. Seems like its been awhile. Also, what is the most current version.
  2. I have been attempting to get help on how to do a drop shadow and add a border to an image. Don't care where I go and the videos I watch the steps never provide me with a finished product I'm looking for. So I'm attaching an image with shows the drop shadow and the border very clearly. I'm hoping someone out there knows how to do this and can either direct me to a concise video or explain the steps. Thank You Gary Hunt
  3. Hey Walt found it. I appreciate your help. Affinity is not easy, especially I think for an older person such as myself. But I will keep trying.
  4. You are going to be sorry you responded to my question. Now i don't see the panels on the left side. Go into studio and don't see option to add. Sorry guys, again please help. Thank You
  5. Thanks guys. What would have caused that to go away. I don't recall doing anything that might have caused it but who knows what I might have done.
  6. Using Windows 11. Was trying some things to learn then it all of a sudden kept saying you must finish editing but it would let me do anything.
  7. Affinity Photo will not let me close it. Says I'm still processing and I'm not. Consequently Affinity stays open when I attempt to shut down my computer. You know guys I want to learn this so bad but I just seem to get rebuked at every turn. I'm just getting very frustrated at this point. If someone could pleas e help me I would appreciate it very much.
  8. Lee - thanks for responding Lee. This is exactly the process I have been using without any luck. Hopefully the on1 Photo RAW 2022 will work. If it doesn't work I would like to find a way where I can acquire James' sky images.
  9. I have been attempting to us On1 Photo as a plug in. I discovered through the Affinity Photo facebook page that I had to do a merge visible before sending image to On1. It never worked. What I'm attempting to do is use James Ristons Atmospher program I purchased to swap a sky and then send to On1 Effects. I can probably do what I want directly in On1 but I paid for a number of skies with James' program I can't use in any other program. So, how do I do this Merge Visible. Do I merge(which is an option) after each adjustment made, or do I wait to do the merge after getting the sky replaced. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Have had no luck finding any info on the process either through youtube, serif.com, or any other potential information source.
  10. Dan I sent the original image. I previously did use the curve tool to lighten the image and cropped some. So if it helps using the curve tool I was able to lighten the image thinking I could show more contrast between sky and bridge to allow me to use the selection too. Didn't work.
  11. Sure. I appreciate your interest in helping. I've been even looking at Channels as an option and got completely lost. Thanks again.IMG_1252.CR2
  12. Recently purchased the Atmosphere skies from James Ritson. I have used the refine tool many time in the past successfully. I'm currently attempting to place of of James' skies in an image but it just is doing a terrible job. Does there have to be a clearly defined edge for the tool to work? The image is a night image from Prague of the Charles Bridge. However, of course the sky is basically black and the foreground is extremely dark as well. I am just not able to obtain a good delineation on the edges so I can place a new sky in. Any help would be appreciated.
  13. Thanks for the response. I was impatient. However, another question on this subject. Does anyone know if these images can be used in other programs (i.e. On1 Photo Raw)
  14. Sorry I asked the question. If I offended someone sorry. I know you don't care but what a silly conversation to be having. To James, please accept my apology.
  15. Been attempting to find a clear guide on how to install Jim Ritsons Atmospher assets I recently purchased. I have read the install instructions that came alone with the 4 downloads but IMHO I didn't feel they were very clear. So if anyone can provide clear guidance on this issue it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You Gary Hunt
  16. Sorry. Don't feel I was very clear. When you open a folder in Affinity in does not show the image. All is says is IMG_photo number. Have had many emails with Affinity and to their defense they responded to each. However, just hard for to believe that can't do. Does anyone know of a work around.
  17. I hesitate to type this but I am so frustrated with Affinity. I really want to learn and use but feel Affinity is feeding me a bunch of BS. When I first purchased Affinity Photo in 2016 I was able to open a folder of images and Affinity provided a thumbnail image of the photos from that folder. Obviously this is important so one can decide what they want to edit. Now Affinity is telling me that it is a Microsoft problem. Didn't seem to be a problem before but now its' Microsofts fault. I work on a PC with Windows 10. Other programs I use, LR, ON1 Photo RAW, Luminar, Darkroom, don't have a problem openining these images. I would think if they can do why can't Affinity. Anyway, I'm sure Affinity is worth learning and will be beneficial but it is hard for me to understand how their competition call all open these thumbnails on Windows 10 but they can't. Is there a difference in the quality of the programmers?
  18. Thank you on the clipped highlights. Figured I did something on a setting. As to the thumbnails, I am using Windows 10. Thank you again and thank for you upcoming response to the thumbnail issue.
  19. I have no idea what you're asking for when you require "Tags" so I just typed something in. I will ask my questions again. I realize I'm a try novice and by trying to learn this program that most of you are very qualified on the program. So maybe my questions aren't important but I'll try again. First, when I attempt to open a new file by accessing my external hard drive my hard drive doesn't show images, all it shows is the IMG_ Cr2. How can I get images to see what I might want to edit. Sure I can click on the tile but it may be something I don't want to work on. Second, when I open any file now it is showing the sky is clipping very badly. The sky is showing red and yellow. I may have changed a setting or something but obviously I would prefer to not have these awful colors showing when I open. Any assistance would be appreciated. Snowcap1
  20. Have a two question that hopefully I will get response to.1. When going to my external hard drive to open an image all it shows is IMG_ CR2. Why doesnt it provide me an image so I know what I'm opening? And second, every time I open a RAW file now the sky is completely blown out even though I had never edited the image. The sky in a bright red and yellow. I'm guessing on the sky that somewhere along the line I changed a setting but I have been unable to find anything.
  21. Keep seeing youtube tutorials on teal and orange. What the heck is the big deal with orange and teal. I'm pretty new so I guess I don't see what it is for.
  22. Thanks for the response. Wasn't expecting it from you. I subscribe to your youtube page and I think you do a great job. Thanks for the quick response. I'll see how it goes.
  23. Panels are gone, toolbar gone, tried to reset, tried turning off computer etc. Nothing working. Next step as far as I know is to re-install but if I keep doing this I will run out of the 5 i have allotted to me. How do I bypass reinstalling and not having it count as one of my five.
  24. OK, I must be really stupid. I cannot grasp how the Gradient Tool works in Affinity. I use it all the time when in On1 and I think it works very similar to Affinitys. I think this is a great tool but I'm just not getting it. I want to use Affinity for most of my editing and On1 for refining certain things but i just don't get it. Can anyone help this old man on how to use this tool. Thank You
