Hi, I could use some advice and hopefully someone can help me out. I’m trying to make a Japanese rising sun design. The sun rays or sunburst that’s on the Japanese flag. I googled it and found a tutorial but it’s for photoshop and I have all of the Affinity software. If anyone can give me some advice on how to accomplish this I would greatly appreciate it!!
Thanks! Take Care,
Amy

Hey everyone! I finally purchased both designer and photo and I was curious about the ipad versions. I run on windows on a pc not mac.
So, I was wondering if there's a list somewhere of the different iPad type devices that are compatible?
And also, will everything sync up across the devices I use and have the programs installed on? For example, will the work I do on my desktop be available for me to edit on my tablet? And vice versa.
Those are my two main questions. Let me know please! Thanks a lot!

Davinci Resolve and Davinci Fusion (for Premiere and After Effects (-ish) functionality). Pretty functional , free versions available.

For animation, I'd recommend first the free ones (that's my habit) , like Opentoonz and Synfig. Then, as mentioned, Moho. IMO Toonboon's Harmony is pricey, when you can do it with other tools (unless is for very specific professional work). Spine is great for games , very standard for medium and small studios. esotericsoftware.com
For frame by frame animation I like Animation Paper animationpaper.com . But really, many other tools can do for this. If not requiring deep features, pro workflows, then even the free Krita ( krita.org ) animation features could do. Or if needing to have a comic drawing package anyway, just get the Pro of Clip Studio Paint EX, that one has quite some animation features. For easy dumb stuff to have some effects, and even for some frame by frame animation, and vector based, the abandoned yet free Vectorian Giotto can yet be of use. Only at download depots. Dunno if runs in Win 10, tho, I don't use that thing, yet....
Awesome!! Thanks so much for all your suggestions. I do have davinci resolve already but I just recently downloaded it but haven't tried the fusion part of it yet. Is the separate fusion download different than what you get with davinci as a package?
I will definitely look into your other suggestions as well! I mainly just want to bring some life to my art and visions. Not full blown cartoon and cartoon characters necessarily but just little animation accents I guess you could say. And I would also like to make short animation clips to use for ads and social media content. I do like cinemagraphs too, but that's probably a whole different game I'm sure. I don't know. I do have a couple apps on my phone that can do that.
But, again, thank you! I appreciate any advice I can get.

It's their product, their decisions and their road map. Rude tone never got anything positive, BTW. The cojones expression (specially for us who speak Spanish), very out of the line, specially as indeed they have quite some of those with all what they have mounted while the top dog is still reigning with all the market and money in its favor.
About the DAM need... if what you want is a dirty solution...what's soooooo difficult in using XNView, or even just Irfan View ? LOL.
Anyway, as if there was not already EXTREMELY good animation software available, even free. I have animated at some companies, and what you want is definitely no big deal -AT ALL- with a great amount of available software. Free and whatnot.
You have absolutely no say on how they conduct their business. Even more, if you go to the mall, and if a product in a shelf does not go with your preference, do you shout at it? Get mad with the employees because you had a bad day? Or just look for another product better fitting your needs , in another shelf ? Or use some neuron, and realize that you get what you pay for, (50 bucks versus many many hundreds, and even so is only renting) and you might get some fair solution even if with some need to compensate some lacks with other tools. You pay less of what a second hand car costs and expect to get a high end Audi or Ferrari ?
As for the matter itself, there's already some talk here : https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/82283-animations-and-video/&do=findComment&comment=433923
Plus, for some 3D-2D anim, I'd even just toon render 3D animation, using the super powerful and free Blender.
Thanks for this! I didn't even consider blender at first. I always thought it was mainly for game development. But I will definitely look into it and give it a shot!

as an affinity product an affinity animator software would be welcome. a competitor to adobe after effects .
My suggestion is to bring aboard companies to co create the app (together they will make a superior product than standalone ).
The following are examples of companies with animation softwares at reasonable prices with features that if all put together would be a great app:
http://www.roughanimator.com/ https://www.keyshapeapp.com/ http://creature.kestrelmoon.com/ https://kiteapp.co/ https://creaceed.com/morphage/about http://www.coreanimator.com/#animate-anything-anywhere https://www.reallusion.com/crazytalk-animator/
I suggest that someone open up to making these companies come together with serif to make affinity animator
Have a nice day, today is father's day in Portugal, happy fathers day to all parents
Yes I agree!! I literally just started a thread the other day asking people if they thought this was something that is in the works or may happen in the future. I think it's important for them to do if they truly want to compete with adobe.

No it cannot, not at all. I would agree, however, that the page for downloading or buying does not tell you this. I would have expected to see a 'System Requirements' box.
It would be well worth your while to upgrade to 64-bit so that you can use Affinity!
John
Hey thanks for your reply back in February. I finally got my new computer! Windows 10 64bit with a geforce gtx graphics card. So hopefully it will be good enough to run Affinity Designer and Photo. I'm going to get Designer first and then in a week or two I'm going to get Photo.
So, I'm excited to try it out!

Another thing I was wondering...can you do any type of animations in Affinity aa of now? Like you can with Adobe. And if not, do you guys think this may be something they do in the future? With the steady climb in popularity of video and animation, I think it would be really cool if Affinity did implant that in some way. Either added with Designer or even a new app similar to After Effects would be cool.
I'm still going to use Designer and Photo but I'm really trying to eliminate any need to have to use Adobe ever again and be locked into their contracts. I was just curious. Thank you in advance!

Ok perfect! Thanks guys. I appreciate you both getting back to me on this. Answered my question. I finally upgraded my computer so It can handle downloading Affinity.

Hey everyone! I am getting ready to purchase Affinity Designer finally and I was just curious about this.
Is it possible to rotate your canvas while working on windows desktop? I'm sure you can on an ipad or something but I was hoping there is still a way to do this on the pc.
Let me know please!
Thanks...

So affinity can NOT be installed on a 32 bit at all?? Like it's just not possible at all?
If so, this is very disappointing to hear. I really need a program to do my work and didn't want to be forced to commit to Adobe again. I was just about to purchase affinity photo and designer but thought I'd look through the forum first.
Please let me know soon!!! Thank you.

Thanks for your reply! Im still having a hard time recreating the sunrays. I did try the cog tool, I think I just don't understand how to use the tools properly yet. So, I bought a couple courses from Udemy. It's a little overwhelming at first trying to learn everything. I thought about taking an image of what I want and tracing it too. Do you think that would work out ok?
