  1. Thanks to Alfred and First Defence. Have now found it. Most grateful
  2. I cannot find the 'Erase white paper' filter in Photo. The help screen indicated it is to be found in the colour section of live filters but I haven't managed to find it. Can anyone help please?
  3. Thank you Dan C, I had missed that sub menu somehow. Most grateful. Jacla
  4. Tried the 'Manipulating a live filter layer mask' exercise from the Affinity Photo Workbook. After updating to the latest version of Affinity Photo I find the Diffuse Glow filter is missing from the New Live Filter menu. I can't find a way of personalising that menu to include this filter. I'd be grateful for any help. Thanks.
  5. Thank you smadell. The brush had indeed defaulted to black and switching it to white immediately solved the problem as you predicted.
  6. I watched the Quick Mask Video and tried to use the technique illustrated. The Quick Mask icon produced a mask, but the Paint Brush tool simply showed a circle with no preview and I could not get it to paint on the areas I wished to select. I appeared to be following the tutorial technique exactly. Presumably the image I was working on was not appropriately set up. I was working on an iMac on an unlocked background pixel image which I had developed from raw on Affinity Photo. Grateful for any guidance.
  7. Hello Stokerg, I was trying to load files with the compression option enabled. However, I tried the change of Raw Engine you suggested and was immediately successful in opening a file. Thank you very much for a prompt and very effective reply!
  8. I have just begun using Affinity Photo and tried to open raw files from the Sony RX1RM2 camera on an iMac. This took me to the Develop section of Affinity and the file name etc came up as expected, but the image never appeared. An indicator at the top of the screen indicated the file name followed by a percentage. The screen showed the before and after displays, each with a few faint pixellated marks. The file size of the ARW files I am trying to import is 43.2 mb. A list of compatible cameras for Affinity Photo that I found includes the RX1M2, so I am probably making a simple error somewhere. I initiated the file import by simply searching for the file and using the the open instruction. Can anyone help please?
  9. Thanks for the help. I'm using Affinity Designer. Sorry about the font size. Will use default in future. Jacla
  10. I want to create detailed outlines for selected elements of photographs. I have tried this using a raster graphics package with some success , but cannot enlarge the resulting images very far. In Affinity thus far I have imported a photo, opened two new layers and use the top layer for drawing. The middle layer is filled to provide a white background that I can turn on or off to see how the image is developing. At present I am using the pen tool with either a line or polygon setting. I cannot discover how to definitively indicate that I have completed a shape outline and wish to move on to a new one. I click around rather wildly in the hope that the blue line will turn back and I shall get an indication of a new curve showing in the layer area. Sorry for the naive question! Also , is there any limit to the number of curves one can create in a particular layer?
