  1. I can't believe this bug hasn't been fixed since 2017... Come on guys this is basic feature for an illustration tool! I've been a long time user of Affinity Designer but I'm getting more and more frustrated (it's like the "select same color tool" that has been asked 4 years ago). So much that I've stopped recommending AD, without this bug patched it's just a broken illustration tool.

I hope you will change my mind and bring a fix asap.

  2. Hi Meb,

Thanks for your quick reply (as always)! Sorry I realize I didn't give a lot of info! I'm on a Mac. So that would be a bug then because on my version (AD 1.4.2) the bounding box is still visible when I select fonts. Here is a video: https://cloudup.com/cOy2h35NA5V.

I haven't thought about it too much but I am sure there is room for improvement (for the font interface). For me I would love twe things:

    - To be able to organize my fonts by type (sans-serif, serif, display, handwritten). I dont't how this could be done because I don't know which informations are included in a font file but maybe that could be linked to Mac default font book library (with collections for example).

    - To have an option that I could select to replace font names with the selected text. That way it would be quicker to choose a font. Maybe increasing the font-size in the font list could help too.

I think the RightFont app is doing a good job in helping choosing a font but it's not working with AD (yet?).

Regarding your last comment maybe it's just me but that would help if the jump would happen only in the main list and not the small "last fonts used" list at the top (I know there are here, I can see them).

  3. Hello,

I was working on a project and thought about one thing that would make my life easier : could you hide the font selection's rectangle while I'm browsing between fonts? I don't know how it's called in English but I am talking about the rectangle that wraps a font that is selected. Also that would be awesome to improve the font interface to make it easier to select fonts.

Thanks a lot for listening to my two cents!

  4. Do you mean something like this?

There is already a new beta (1.3.5.5) available https://s3.amazonaws.com/affinity-beta/download/Affinity+Designer+Customer+Beta.dmg

Yes exactly! But I talked a bit too quick, Affinity Designer calculates the rotation angle and apply it in the Transform panel so that it's really easy to go back to 0° angle. This is genius and in my opinion the best way to do it :)!

    Hello Etienne,

    Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

    1) You can't interrupt the ⌘ (cmd) + J operation (power duplicate) to perform other operations. It must be sequential. I'm not sure what you trying to achieve but if you give us more details we may be able to help.

    2) This may be available later through other tools that are planned (Blend tool/blend along a path). Please check Affinity Designer 's roadmap for more info.

    3) This is a known issue that's already logged. It should be fixed soon.

Thank you MEB and thanks for your answers :)!

Regarding my first question what I usually do is :

    - First I move an object and press the alt key at the same time so that it's a copy of my object that get moved and the object itself ;

    - Then I press ⌘ (cmd) + J so that my object is duplicated and moved automatically (it's pretty useful when creating patterns for example).

So I am trying to do the exact same thing with the new rotation center function but the first step is not working (if I press the alt key while rotating my object it is not copied but only moved). Is it more clear?

  5. Hello,

Thanks a lot for this new Beta that looks really promising :)!

I have just tested the user defined rotation center new function and I have a suggestion and two bugs to report:

    - First I read that it can be used in conjunction with Cmd + J. So I pressed Alt as I moved the handler so that it gets duplicated. However it only worked once, now pressing Alt doesn't duplicate the item anymore (making the Cmd + J function useless in this situation).

    - Second, I wish there could be a way to rotate the object around the newly defined center without moving the object. For example let's say I have a star that I duplicate. Right now if I move the star around that new center then the star is also rotated compared to my first star (I don't know if this is understandable...).

    - Last, when I try to snap the new rotation center to the overlapping point of two guides it is not really precise (if I zoom in, the rotation center is not perfectly aligned with my guides).

I'll have a try at the other new features, I am excited :)!
