Adobe Certified Expert got a reaction from Patrick Connor in Crash Designer 2.1.0 when activating the baseline grid
Thank you very much for the quick response!
Many other companies could take an example from this.
I can currently live without a basic grid in these documents. But I am happy if I can help to clean up errors.

    Hi @Adobe Certified Expert,
Thanks for your document provided and I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble!
I can confirm that I've been able to replicate this issue here and therefore I have logged the file with our development team.
I'm unable to provide the exact reasoning for this crash at this time, however I can see that it is caused by the Running Headers on your Master Page - as deleting these text frames then allow for the Baseline Grid to be activated - though I cannot replicate this in a new document.
Our team will investigate this further so that we can identify the reasoning behind this and resolve this in a future update.
    I hope this helps

Fact is: I bought 2.0, although probably the only new tool I will use will be the shape constructor.
But I hope that by buying it, I have contributed to making functions such as the trace in the designer possible.
How can you make it clear to Serif / Affinity how important this function is to the community?
It is the great advantage of this company that it is small and flexible enough to listen to the wishes of the users - I hope they also use this advantage.

I've been using Affinity for a long time and by now the old UI was completely transparent to me. I no longer paid attention to how the symbol looked, but only called up functions that I needed.
It was only through this article that I started to look at the icons again.
Some are successful. Some (in the contour palette) are less so.
Much more important for me are the small improvements in the palettes that save me dozens of clicks.
In the colour panel I now have the last used colours. I no longer have to switch to the colour panels. I see the hex colours directly and can copy them for documentation. Great!
Something like this is much more important to me than the design of a button, which I no longer notice after a few clicks anyway. Have you discovered similar small improvements?

It is undeniable that the price is super for the scope of the software on offer. I myself have been using 1.0 for a good 5 years and have been able to come to terms with the small shortcomings so well that Adobe subscriptions have expired without much regret.
I bought the new version not 5 minutes after it was released - without even looking at the options included, because what is more decisive for me is that I also get future updates. I was happy to pay the money.
Nevertheless, I can also understand the opinion of the thread creator. There remains a strange feeling of not being respected as an existing customer.
And it's not even about the money. An exclusive brush set for existing customers or some other form of bonus, simply as a thank you, would have been nice.
The comparison with buying a new car is also very misleading. Cars wear out in all parts, which software does not. A new customer gets software with hundreds of new functions. An update buyer only gets the new functions for the same price, because the previous functions are not "worn out".
A small gesture of some kind would have been a sign of respect for existing customers.

    I know Vectormagic.
It is the tool I am currently using. But it is something other than an integrated workflow.
I'm sure there's a specialised solution for every little shortcoming in the Affinity programmes. But it involves importing, exporting, compatibility problems, formatting etc. every time.
It is this seamless approach between tools that makes Affinity programmes so enjoyable.

I worked with Adobe Phtoshop 1 (not cs1). It was terrible! There were bugs without end. Hundreds of functions, without which it seems impossible to survive today, were completely missing. I paid $895 for the Photoshop software "version 1" in 1990.
Editable text was available after the 5th version to pay for. At that time, foreign languages were still unthinkable! Between 800 and 1000 dollars each. And that was ONLY the price for Photoshop, not a suite.
Today the Adobe Suite costs 743.40 euros - every year and if you don't pay, nothing works anymore.
Is anyone here really upset because of a one-off cost of 120 euros? For a programm that is not perfect (neither is Photoshop), but which covers 95% of the functions of the three corresponding programmes?

I am not. I think it's a very reasonable price given what you get...
If you're used to other prices, this is a no brainer. Some  plug-ins for Photoshop were more expensive then the whole suite today. The plug-ins for Illustrator from Astute Graphics for instance, wich are brilliant, cost way more then the suite.....If you see everything in perspective, it's really not that bad at all.

I already own v2...Now to get the grips of the new features...I am confident they will add more cool stuff to v2.......

    MISSING for me.
Designer - Trace tool is key. 99% of my Illustrator work and a big reason why I'm still in Adobe land is Tracing my bitmapped art drawn in Sketchbook on iPad.
Photos - High res when you make a photo higher res. In other words smoothing like Photoshop.  Smart select is about 50% useful in Photoshop. Sky selector I've used once for a cover of a magazine and it was good.
Publisher - What can I say. It still reminds me of SwiftPublisher or some other $9 app.  YES it's way way better than those.  But it's just not as refined as InDesign.  I'd like to move some pallets around and make it more like my InDesign placements.  I use the character pallet a lot with horizontal scale for text so things fit easily and this feature in InDesign is up top, Publisher is on a side pallet. Not bad.. I feel like I'm whining and could get used to it.  I've just started looking at it and forget what other things I didn't like in Publisher 1 that made me stick to Adobe.

A few others that are of interest to me:
Style picker tool Word count Much improved boolean operations More than one FX of a single type applied to the same object (for example, you can apply multiple shadows to the same object) Cross-app sharing of assets, pallets, etc. Totally revamped new document window (that finally works in my preferred full screen mode)

    Hammer? Meet nail. Ho-hum.
While many of you were posting in here, and in other threads regarding the hammer/nail controversies, I formatted another ebook for POD printing. The POD book is currently uploaded and is available on Ingram Spark and Amazon.
Oh, and I used the apparently unusable Publisher V2, of which I have a shortcut on my Win11 x64 laptop taskbar. I had such a shortcut on my desktop, too, but I deleted it. (But that's another thread, so to speak.)
I paid 99 bucks for the "full meal deal", and I don't even own an Apple product, thank goodness for that. (That's another can of worms, thanks to the Apple /// and Lisa debacles, but I digress.) (That's also another thread, but don't take it personally, all you Apple users.)
So, ya, I'm a happy user. Now, back to work. 😇
Oopsie, one more thing: I bought direct from the Affinity store, so there's that.
    * sings * Hi ho, hi ho, it's back to work I go.

Major version upgrade is always been payable.
If you don't like it just use your version forever which is not the case with subscription-based apps.
