This works on Mac and it may work on Windows.
Select the artboard and group it. Resize the group. Ungroup it.
You'll see the original size of the artboard remain the same until you ungroup it.

In case you're not aware of the enhancements in 1.9, from the Help for Rotate Document View (on Windows):

mtlevison reacted to DragonWhimsy in Displaying brush names in the brush panel
I'm really loving the Affinity Suite, they are fantastic products. But it's become frustrating that my biggest pain point with the desktop software is seemingly something so easy to fix. I'm talking about how you can only see the brush names in the brush panel by hovering your cursor over the brush. For someone who has bought a lot of brushes for the software this is really painful. This has really hampered my ability to find a brush, or even remember what brush I had used previously. It seems like a small thing, but it really isn't. Seeing the names in the panel helps greatly with memory retention and creates a much stronger user experience. Right now I either have to hover over the brush, taking an extra second to let the name pop up (getting me out of my artistic flow and annoying me, and that annoyance meaning I'm unlikely to bother), or I have to not register the name in my consciousness at all, leaving me to hopefully remember later which in a long line of squiggly shapes is the brush I used.
While I realize this isn't the most important feature in the world, it's also really low hanging fruit. And doesn't the ipad versions of the suite already have this (I don't have the ipad versions but I'd swear I saw in a video that they do)?
Is this a result of someone in UI wanting to make the panel look prettier and more streamlined and thinking it doesn't hamper our workflows? Because if so please, please put that strange notion aside. You are most definitely hampering my workflow.
Please don't tell me we have to wait for 1.9 for this. It's such a small thing but so important.

Rotate View (using modifiers and mouse) is being added to the current Betas: already available in Affinity Designer Beta 1.9.0.4 (macOS) and Designer and Photo Betas 1.9.0.780 (Win).

it just needs to be easier. The Photoshop way is just perfect, hold R button and just drag with whatever you're working with, mouse or pen to rotate the view. If you're trying to fix some hair you need to rotate a lot while drawing.
It's one of those features that once you start using it, you can't live without it.

mtlevison reacted to Baptiste in Feature Request : Brushes management
    Hi' here !
Hope all is fine for everybody
Here is a request I would like to share. I saw many topics on the subject but not really answers or message that it's taken into account.
My suggestion is to improve brushes management.
    - Easier way to change brush : A context menu to change brush. It's quite annoying to cross all the screen in order to change the brush.
    - Easier way to find a brush : Get the name over the brush display et have a field in order to filter by name. When a lot of brush are in a category it's quite annoying to look for the wanted brush, lost amoung the others, again and again and again.
    - Sub-category : To avoid having many categories and avoiding looking for a brush lost amoung others it could be great to get sub-categories. For example Nature > Animals or Nature > Plants, ...

    Thanks in advance

I agree. AF needs to have better brush management capabilities. It was something Photoshop users had to wait a very long time on. I hope AF doesn't let us wait as long as PS did with their costumers!
I suggest making it possible to create sub-categories within categories. A 'sort by ...' button in the hamburger menu would also be helpful (for example 'sort alphabetically'). Another thing that would make brushes more manageable is to let users choose how they want the brushes to appear in the brush panel (by stroke only, by name only, by brush tip only, ... or a combination of these things). Also having multiple brushes sit aside each other when resizing the brush panel would be helpful for those with a very large brush collection. Maybe instead of selecting the collections in a list, icons could be placed on the left of the brush panel, which could be scrolled through, and with dividers, making it quicker to switch back and forth between different categories. Or maybe only the categories favorited by the user could appear here. Beneath is a quick mockup of what I mean.

mtlevison reacted to ZenMasta in [Designer] Hide text outside of text box?
When text exceeds the size of a text box, it is still visible on the artboard.
Coming from AI, I'm used to the text being cut off, and I prefer it that way because it more easily helps me figure out what can fit in a specific space.
Additionally, I think the way you change the size of the text box is inconsistent because while I can make the box shorter without changing the flow of text, as you see in the screenshot, if I try to make the same box narrower, it will re flow. Just a thought. Mainly, at this point, all I care about is if it's possible to toggle a setting somewhere so text will be hidden, if it is beyond the size of the text box.

Just like in Photoshop I find it so slow and irritating to move around from brush category to another while illustrating, painting and drawing in Affinity. In Krita there is a brush manager where you collect your favourites, in Painter too, in ClipStudio, in SketchBook Pro it is easy to drag brushes around to collect them in one single library, and now even in Photoshop (I have not tired it yet). Why not in Affinity? Or is there a way to manage to keep your favourites in one single place already, a way I have not found out about yet?
Please, if someone knows a way to do it, to manage my favourites in one place, tell me how. If not, please developers, make a manager like the Brush Box (found on Gumroad). It will make workflow soo much better
    Henry

How do you drag a fav brush into a new "favs" category?

EDIT: I just found it! There is a "move brush to category" feature as a right click menu option. If you right click on the brush you want to move. This is awesome. Beware though as it does move the brush, not copying it. So it will remove it from it's original brush set. Maybe the addition of a "copy brush to category" would make a nice addition and give users a choice so they can have favs without breaking up the original brush set.

Users need some sort of simple way to organize and save favourite brushes in their own panel. There are now hundreds of brushes, all in separate panels. It's becoming counter productive and I think some sort of system is needed to get the most out of all of these great resources.

Please have in mind, that this request is not about creating a straight line with two clicks, but about constraining the movement of your drawing tool while dragging it across the canvas. And that still does not work, unfortunately.

+1 This would be SO handy to have in Affinity Photo. I'm actually a bit surprised that it isn't in the application already.

I'm trying...For real. I keep getting the Color Picker but nothing else. Drives me nuts...
Is there a specific option/thing to activate/deactivate on the Windows/Wacom side?
    Thank you
    EDIT with solution:
Found how to make it work.
It so dumb it's frustrating. I don't know if it's an issue on the Wacom or Affinity side. But this is truly stupid.
So. If I define a Right Click on the Pen button through the Wacom preferences with Click/Right Click...it doesn't work.
But if I define the same button with Keyboard/Modificator/Right Click it WORKS!
I put a picture. It's in french but the idea is there.
    Once done the shortcut works.
    Hope that helps

    Hi Affinity team,
Recently purchased this plugin for Photoshop, expecting it to work in Affinity Photo through the usual method of detecting it as a plugin. But it's not working. Is there a way around it?
    Cheers.
