degtrv reacted to Maksimus in Russian is spoken not only in Russia. Where is Russian localization for version 2?
    Hi all!
I live in Moldova, but I speak Russian. Moldova is not under sanctions.
I have been using Affinity Suite products for a year now and I really like them.
Updated yesterday to version 2 and suddenly found that now the interface does not support the Russian language.
Guys, I understand that sanctions have been imposed on Russia and there is no way for people to pay with Russian cards.
I understand that you are not particularly interested in that market now.
    But there are 3 arguments:
A huge number of creative people who worked in Russia and speak Russian have left the country and are working remotely somewhere abroad. They continue to be your audience and customers.
Very many of the russians have already made payment cards abroad and transferred their capital outside of Russia. Therefore, they continue to be paying customers for Serif and make a profit.
In addition to Russia and the 146 million people living there, more than 300 million people speak Russian all over the world. That is, another 150+ million live outside of Russia and speak Russian. They are also your customers. Given all of the above, I do not understand why you removed the Russian language from your applications. Not everyone who speaks Russian is inside Russia and supports the war and the course of the government.
Therefore, a big request to Serif is to return the Russian localization inside the Affinity Suite applications. Thank you for understanding the aspirations of your customers.

I actually switched back to Photoshop and Bridge after using Affinity Photo for over 3 years, because I needed some sort of DAM software, better RAW engine and some photoshop tools + full PSD compatibility. But I still use Affinity Designer for vector work, because it just works better for me than Illustrator.

The RAW processing in Affinity is unusable in my opinion, granted I've only tried from Canon and iPhone, but the pictures look completely wrong compared to other software that just nails the look first try.

degtrv reacted to Roland Rick in Edit / Inpaint running forever
I am working on a huge 360º pano. Using "Edit/Inpait" for closing the drone hole, something went wrong and the task is now running for over half an hour, doing kinda nothing (no fan noise fully equipped MBP16/2019). It is not possible to [Esc] this without kill -9 (Force quit) Affinity Photo. Unfortunately always doing like so, you never know if some GB of cache or whatever used on SSD will remain forever als garbage on the disk, wasting valuable disk space.
Where is the [Esc] or [Cancel] button??? To me, this is a bug, at least an ugly design flaw:

    Cheers,
    Roland

It used to work on Alpha Masks in 1.9.0. There's situations when it has to be an Alpha Mask and certain things cannot be made with a Vector Mask.
Thank you for your suggestion anyway

Well, in your video that looks about right and what I would expect to happen.
To get the effect I think you wanted, I would use a vector shape; Ellipse, give it the Layer Effect; Gaussian Blur.
And then clip the image with it by dragging the Ellipse shape onto the thumbnail of the image in the Layers panel. Finally adjust the degree of Blur to taste.

    Hello,
We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of the final build of Affinity Photo 1.9.1 for macOS.
If this is your first time using a customer beta of an Affinity app, it’s worth noting that the beta will install as a separate app - alongside your store version. They will not interfere with each other at all and you can continue to use the store version for critical work without worry.
This beta is an incremental update to the 1.9.0 version recently released to all customers (although it still installs parallel to the released version, as described above). We recommend that you use this beta in preference to the store version if you are affected by any of the issues listed below.

Selecting the Freehand Selection Tool doesn't change the cursor to a lasso. The cursor of the previously used tool stays active.
    FS Tool works, though.
    Same in Designer's Pixel Persona.
    Photo 1.9 + MacOS Mojave

Absolutely agree on this one! I also find it kind of annoying having to select sample "Current and Below" layers when using Inpainting Brush / Clone and other tools when retouching a number of similar pictures.

Thanks for  the new functionalities. But please don't forget sticky settings .. There are still some tools that don't remember the last one used.
One example is the Selection tools; specifically the FreeHand Selection Tool.
It always defaults to the first one (Not sure of its name ) The one with the ziggy zaggy lines.
The ONLY one I use is the second one. The one with the closed shape and lets you do only straight lines. Affinity Photo NEVER remembers that I want to use that one.
This week I had to retouch 100 pictures and in every new one I opened I had to select the second sub tool manually.

And while we are in this subject I find it strange that when I want to add to a selection I have to press the "control" key modifier. I would think that the "shift" key is the standard to add.

    Hello Affinity community,
here's my first attempt at a big(for me) vector project. I usually do small logo type of things.
I was a bit hesitant to put this here(not confidant in my ability) but I have to give credit to Fred Lespine   who inspired me to have a go after seeing his projects.
It's not finished and has a lot of errors, light direction realism etc.
It is a 100% vector image done in Affinity Designer 1.8.
I'm a 52 year old House Builder from NZ.
If you're interested the "Kiwi Rider" is an online motorcycle magazine here in NZ .
If I can, you can, have a go and post your work.

    Hi,
i am new user Affinity Designer who recently started trying to master the pen tool and create something visually appealing using vectors. I have no experience in that at all, i am quite good at Photoshop but vectors are totally new to me. Here is my atempt to create a luxury Maurice Lacroix watch.

Hey! I've been taking pictures for quite a long time but now I'm more into photo manipulation and retouching. I like the software and its "Live Filters" feature makes the process so much more flexible.
Here are my first composites made in Affinity Photo.
    Hope you enjoy it!
