  1. I am ok with that. I also understand the tech spec requirements, but just wanted some comments on which is best.
  2. I'm a keen amateur photographer shooting RAW images and using Affinity Photo to develop them. I'm looking to upgrade from my oldish Windows HP laptop. My budget is £1500. In addition to online reviews, any advice on best buys please. Should I go for an Apple pc? Thanks.
  3. I'm a beginner with Affinity Photo and would like to know how experienced users develop their RAW files? Do you do as much work as possible within the Develop Persona, then develop the image and only use the Photo Persona for operations not available with the Develop Persona? Do you do a minimum of work within the Develop Persona, then develop the image to complete in the Photo Persona? I'm not asking about any "special effects" to images like using tonal brush tools etc., it's basic image development. Thanks, Jon Haines
  4. I use a Cannon DSLR camera and shoot/save images as RAW(*.CR2) and JPEG files. When I open the RAW and JPEG files of an image in Affinity Photo , the JPEG image looks "correct" in terms of colour, brightness and contrast etc., but the RAW image is much "duller" and no where near looking "correct". To make the image look correct and get the most of the RAW detail, I obviously use the tools available and then "develop" the image. It's the same with RAW and JPEG files from my wife's Panasonic camera. Can anyone give me some help here please. When I open the RAW and JPEG files of an image in Canons own Digital Photo Professional v4, both images are very similar in terms of brightness, colour and contrast etc., with the RAW file being better quality. Thanks, Jon Haines.
  5. Hello, I'm new to Affinity Photo and am working my way through the tutorial videos etc. Independent of Affinity Photo, I understand the difference between RAW and JPEG files in terms of image quality, post processing actions and resultant file sizes. But what exactly is going on with image quality and file size when I open a RAW file (Canon .CR2), develop it without making any changes and then save it as an Affinity Photo file? Thanks, Jon Haines.
  6. Hi, I'm new to Affinity Photo (Windows Desktop version 1.6.5.135) and so far thinks it's pretty good. However, I'm struggling to find the "Epic Skies" additional pack. Can anyone point me in the right direction please. Thanks, Jon Haines.
  7. I've just bought Affinity Photo Desktop for Windows 10. How do I get a thumbnail preview of a RAW file (Canon CR2 and Panasonic RW2) so that I know that I'm going to open the correct photo? Thanks, Jon Haines.
  8. Thanks for your reply Ian, it confirms what I knew really. I think i'll buy Affinity Photo asap.
  9. Are RAW files better to use with Infinity Photo (rather than JPEG files) as is the case with Canon Photo Professional v4 which is the only other post processing software that I have used? Thanks, Jon Haines
