I've read many posts here that discuss this topic. None of the suggestions seem to work for me in Designer (I don't have Photo).
I have a layer that contains 6 pen-drawn shapes, and a background layer with the basic background shape for my web icons. I can export a PNG that is just what I want, but the vector shapes are white and not transparent. I expected to be able to create a vector mask with these shapes, and then use that to erase the internal area of these shapes from my background.
I have tried rasterizing layers and shapes, trying to combine layers, looking for somewhere there is a "blend mode" option. I created a mask for the background layer and tried to edit it to put the shapes on the mask, but copy/paste did nothing, and pen drawing put the objects into the main document and not on the mask.
Still unable to make this work.
